The Avanex PowerExpress Metro Optical Amplifier (Network Ready EDFA) uses an innovative patent pending technology to extend the 32-wavelengths C-band bi-directional metro DWDM of OC-192 span up to 90 Km over NDSF (Non-Dispersion Shifted Fiber. It is a rack mounting module, one unit (1.732 inches) high, and fits to a standard 23-inch wide rack. The bi-directional amplifier is usually located at each end of an optical link. This unit can compensate up to 25 dB link loss. It compensates completely for the loss of optical MUX and DeMUX processors. At the receiver end, it provides sufficient power to allow for the use of cost effective 10 Gb/s PIN receivers. Specially, a mini dispersion compensator, the Avanex PowerShaper is included in the package as to extend the 10Gbps transmission distance typically from 50km to 90km without reducing optical power or rack space. This provides clients interoperating terminal equipment (TE) from different vendors with different transmitter technology. Final Test Data Sheet and a 35-page Operating Manual are available.
